Notes

Notes:
This was the third night of a 3 day run
for Furthur at the BEC. The first night
was close to sold out, second night sold
out and third night maybe slightly over
1/2 full. 7 tapers in the OTS, many less
then Fri/Sat night. Many thought the
second set of this night was the most
cohesive set of the 3 show run at BEC.

I recorded DFC, OTS with wind
screens and on mic stand at 13
feet. Used the DPA4022 (windscreens)
with Grace Design V3 preamp. The sound
at the venue was the best of the 3
nights. Seemed more focused.

Performance: A+
Sound Quality: A-/A

Subject: Setlist resemblance
I have heard that Phil did this for his wife, Jill, for Valtentines Day. As 02-17-82 was Jills first Dead show!

Not sure if it's true or not, but a neat story none the less.

Subject: Great Show/Wonderful Recording
This is an exceptional set of shows. I seem to be playing this one the most. I really enjoy hearing these new versions of GD classics.

So many highlights for me. John is great on Sugaree (with Bob singing lead); same for Eyes (with Phil). Each song is a great team effort. CC Rider, Man Smart, Not Fade Away...they all shine. Colors of the Rain fits right in with the GD staples. Bob gets the right amount of crazy on the Estimated, and Sugar Magnolia is thrilling--great vocals, a wonderful rocking rhythm, and the flow into Sunshine Daydream is fantastic.

I have no adjectives left! For a stay-at-home listener pert of the fun was getting these daily taper dispatches, the Twitter updates from the band, and the commentaries on the Phil Zone. Much appreciated!

What a fun and high-spirited band! This is an upcoming victory tour for these folks, and I hope they really throw themselves into it. The anticipation will really be cranked up when they arrive in Atlanta. That crazy scene at the Tabernacle was a thrill, but seeing a show like this at the Fox is going to be fantastic.

All this today after getting into this band in the early 70's. Five stars is not enough!

Subject: uncanny resemblance
@ thereal_IMA, that is indeed an uncanny setlist resemblance, and highly unlikely to be coincidental. Somebody in the band was feeling nostalgic, even though they missed the anniversary by a few days...

Subject: Chocolate or Vanilla??
Yes i suppose pickin a favorite of these shows is like pickin chocolate or vanilla and comes down to personal tastes as clearly all 3 were quality performances. Nonetheless, for me Sat night was best as energy and set list really rocked hard throughout. Perhaps also the larger rowdier crowd had an influence but,in any event, that place was rockin...goin round and round...Also must give kudos to Wharf Rat here on 3d night as the single best performance of the entire weekend.WOW

Subject: Broomfield '11 Rocked Out
I saw all three shows. They were all stellar!!! However the third night was definitely the heaviest and as good as or better than many Grateful Dead shows I ever saw.. I left the show a useless smile.. I just can't praise Sunday night any more. It was some powerful shit. Where do you even start???? we were dancing with all the spinners in the back end of the floor. That was some intense stuff and everyone I saw was just blown away. blown away. blown away.
